Workplace achiever hits new heights to take out naTIonal award
Australia’s employment services sector is celebrating the outstanding achievement against the odds of Adelaide man and commercial roofer, Joseph Paley, who has taken out the 2023 National Employment Services Association (NESA) Award for Achiever of the Year.
Twelve months ago, Joseph Paley was unemployed and sleeping rough, having just been released from prison and estranged from his support network. After one freezing night huddled up next to a wall at a train station, Joseph decided things had to change and walked to the nearest office of employment services provider, Workskil Australia, where staff found him waiting the next morning.

Australia’s employment services sector is celebrating a Victorian employer that has taken out the 2023 National Employment Services Association (NESA) Award for Employer of the Year.
Founded on the belief that everyone deserves a second chance, Fruit2Work focuses on providing employment to people who have been impacted by the justice system.
Servicing more than 1000 customers in the Greater Melbourne area, Geelong and Ballarat, Fruit2Work is a certified social enterprise and registered charity delivering fresh fruit, milk and pantry items along with vending services.

Lived experience drives awarding-winning performance for former refugee
Australia’s employment services sector is celebrating the professional excellence of a former refugee who has taken out the 2023 National Employment Services Association (NESA) Award for Employment Consultant of the Year.
Overseas-born, but with a remarkable 25 years of experience in employment services within the Adelaide North Region, Hafez Zamani is the Business Development Manager for global health and workplace services provider, APM, overseeing 33 employment consultants across 13 sites and servicing a culturally and ethnically diverse demographic.

NESA welcomes roadmap to a more inclusive and diverse Australian workforce
National Employment Services Association (NESA), the peak body for Australian employment services sector, welcomes the release of the Australian Government’s White Paper on Jobs and Opportunities – Working Future and its vision for a dynamic and inclusive labour market.
NESA Chief Executive, Kathryn Mandla, said all Australians should have the opportunity and support to access the dignity of paid work and to contribute to the country’s economic growth.

Finalists announced in 2022 NESA Awards for Excellence
The 2022 finalists for the National Employment Services Association (NESA) Awards for Excellence have been announced. The award ceremony, which is set to take place at Sydney’s Sofitel Wentworth on Wednesday October 5th, highlights shining stars in the country’s employment services within three categories. The occasion also celebrates NESA’s 25th year in leading the sector.

Employment achievers acknowledged in National Awards
Every year, the National Employment Services Association (NESA) brings employment services providers, employers and allied services together to honour and acknowledge exceptional achievements in the realm of employment. This year's Gala Awards ceremony, part of the 2021 NESA National Conference at QT Canberra from the 7th to the 9th of June, went ahead despite COVID restrictions and a snap lockdown in Victoria, which prevented many – including most of the admin team – from attending.

Ninety delegates from around the world joined the NESA team in Sydney at the National Centre of Indigenous Excellence for the 2019 NESA/OECD Indigenous Employment Forum. Delegates heard passionate and insightful representations from around Australia, as well as from Canadian Government representatives, members of the OECD and social enterprise leaders from New Zealand.
The forum also saw the release of the OECD report Indigenous Employment and Skills Strategies in Australia. This report is the latest in the series of country-specific OECD Reviews on Local Job Creation.
