HOPE Project

The Home Options and Pathways to Employment (HOPE) Project

Benefiting people experiencing homelessness

The Home Options and Pathways to Employment (HOPE) Project, supported by funding from the Australian Government, brings together a partnership of two peak bodies: the National Employment Services Association (NESA) and Homelessness Australia (HA).

Through this project, resources have been developed to assist Employment Services providers and Homelessness Services organisations in developing collaborative working relationships which ultimately benefit people experiencing homelessness. Whilst the resources for employment services providers were initially targeted for Job Services Australia, much of the information is also transferrable to employment services more broadly.

The HOPE Project Resource Kit on Homelessness for Providers of Employment Services

This Resource Kit is designed to raise awareness and to increase the knowledge of employment service providers about homelessness, its causes, impacts and the range of assistance available to assist people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.

The Kit also contains a section on the importance of developing effective collaborative partnerships and provides some examples of collaborative relationships which have been established between employment services and homelessness service providers.

This Resource Kit is intended to assist in facilitating effective collaborative approaches between Homelessness Service and JSA providers, to improve employment assistance for people who are homeless. JSA providers have a contractual requirement to work cooperatively with community welfare organisations and local community services, including accommodation and/or homelessness services. Homelessness service providers have well established links within their community to a range of organisations and these links can be expanded to include employment service providers.
